Celebrating the Winners of the PEN@Hydropower HydroClip Challenge

The PEN@Hydropower HydroClip Challenge brought together students aged 16-20 to highlight the role of hydropower through a short video competition. Using TikTok and Instagram as platforms, students shared their insights and creativity, showcasing hydropower's importance in a world increasingly focused on renewable energy.

Participants were tasked with creating 1-2 minute videos, using the hashtag #PENHydropowerChallenge and tagging @penhydropowereu on TikTok or @penhydropower on Instagram. Their reward? An all-expense-paid trip to the PEN@Hydropower Event in Brussels, where their videos would be featured at the conference.

Meet the Winners

After a strong pool of entries, we are pleased to announce this year’s winning teams:

  • From Bosnia: Congratulations to Mustafa and Benjamin for their video on the benefits of hydropower. Their submission stood out for its clarity and impact. Watch their video here.

  • From Spain: Kudos to Blanca, Xavier, and Judit for their creative take on hydropower's role in sustainable energy. See their video here.

Both teams earned the opportunity to present their work in Brussels, and their videos were featured prominently during the event.

Why It Matters

Involving young people in discussions about renewable energy is critical to shaping the future of sustainability. The HydroClip Challenge aimed to raise awareness of hydropower and its importance as a clean, reliable energy source. Through competitions like this, students not only learn about hydropower but also develop the skills and knowledge to become future leaders in the renewable energy sector.

Hydropower is often overlooked in discussions about green energy, yet it remains one of the most reliable and efficient sources available today. By encouraging students to explore this topic creatively, the HydroClip Challenge helps ensure the next generation understands the vital role that hydropower plays in reducing carbon emissions and supporting global energy needs.

Looking Ahead

We congratulate all participants and look forward to future initiatives that continue to foster youth engagement in the renewable energy sector. Raising awareness among younger generations is key to driving long-term change, and competitions like the HydroClip Challenge are an important step in that direction.
