Discovering the ENGIE Foz Tua Hydropower Plant

During our recent training school, students had the opportunity to visit the Foz Tua hydropower plant on the Tua River in northern Portugal. Since its commissioning in 2017, the plant has been a key energy source for the region, featuring a double curvature arch dam and an underground powerhouse with a capacity of 274 MW. With an annual production of 305 GWh, it also includes a pumping system for optimized energy management. Designed to harmonize with its UNESCO-protected surroundings, Foz Tua exemplifies sustainable energy production. Watch the video of the visit for more insights
