Women Mentorship Workshop in Barcelona

This week, an inspiring training workshop for the women’s mentoring cohort of the 2024-25 CA 20114 COST Action took place at the School of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona (ETSEIB). Mentees and mentors from across Europe gathered to explore and refine essential skills in self-analysis, personal strengths assessment, and professional self-presentation. Designed to enhance confidence and self-perception, this workshop equipped participants with actionable insights that will support both their professional and personal growth.

The workshop focused on exercises aimed at improving self-perception and presentation. These activities were structured to foster self-awareness, highlighting how one's body language, voice, tone, and facial expressions can impact how we are perceived. Through collaborative activities, mentees received constructive feedback and gained a clearer understanding of how to present their best selves, both in professional settings and beyond.

One key takeaway from the workshop is that developing these skills is a journey—one that can continually be improved with mindful practice. The attendees left with practical knowledge on refining their presentation skills and a roadmap for applying these insights toward their future goals. With this newfound awareness, each participant can now set personalized objectives to advance their professional and personal development.

For those eager to continue their growth, an additional transfer webinar at the turn of the year will build on these foundational skills. This upcoming session will dive deeper into goal setting, providing participants with tools to chart a clear, purposeful path forward.

Key Highlights:

  • Hands-on exercises to improve self-perception and self-presentation skills.

  • Emphasis on body language, voice modulation, and expression as crucial elements of effective self-presentation.

  • Constructive feedback loops to help mentees gain insights into how they are perceived by others.

  • An opportunity to continue this learning journey with an advanced webinar focusing on goal-setting in the new year.

The workshop was a valuable step in empowering this cohort of women in engineering, nurturing not only technical skills but also the vital interpersonal abilities that underpin professional success.
