Working Group 3
To realise the potential of Hydropower in a flexible modern energy system, new technological developments must be combined with state-of-the-art climate projections, environmental and societal conditions to provide planning and implementation tools for legislation and governance.
Tasks
T3.1 Identification and classification of local environmental impacts and mitigation methods coupled to hydropower in regulated rivers for current scenarios as well as future scenarios and impacts effected by climate change (fulfil European Water Framework or other goals).
T3.2 Establishing pan-European collaboration on climate change projections, hydraulic modelling, their impact on hydropower, and possible strategies to adapt to the changing climate in terms of safety, ecology and social activities
Activities
Organize activities (workshops, summer schools) with discussions on local environmental impacts in terms of regional conditions and their susceptibility to climate change
